-What's new @ your library?-

Reading Rewards Programs @ your library
The Abraham Lincoln Illinois High School Book of the Year Award nominees and the Read for a Lifetime list have been announced.  The books are on display in the Fiction Room and ready for check-out. We promote both programs in our Basket of Books campaign.  Read a basket of books and earn extra credit, win prizes, vote for the Abe Award winner, and receive a certificate and discount coupons from the Secretary of State and Waldenbooks.  See Mrs. McCutcheon for more information.

Castle Cafe Opens @ your library
Last year we sold coffee and hot chocolate in the library before school during our book sale.  You asked that we continue.  We listened.  During the warm months, we'll add lemonade and iced tea.  All drinks will cost $.50, and the proceeds will go to Gettin' Comfortable @ your library.  The Castle Cafe opens at 7:40 a.m. each morning in the Fiction Room and is open during lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Book Clubs @ your library
Book clubs are forming.  You can find more detailed information under Book Club News on the Readers page of this site.

Student Library Advisory Council
One of our goals @ your library is to provide support for students and teachers at Red Bud High School.  We do that in many ways.  If you'd like to help "build" a high school library that is one of the best, become a SLACer - a Student Library Advisory Council member.

Current SLACers who are giving up a study hall to help the library run smoothly include Reid, Sara, and Michael
.  However, you don't have to work in the library to serve on the council.  Watch the announcements, this website, and the bulletin board for more information.

Teen Read Week @ Your Library
Teen Read Week is October 15 - 22.  This year's theme is Get Active @ your library.  Watch the announcements, this page, and the bulletin board for more information.

One Teen Read Week activity that you can start working on NOW is the Picture Yourself Reading photo contest.  Prizes will go to the best of the photos, and most photos will be on display @ your library and on the main hall bulletin board.

Need some ideas to get you started?  How about a picture of you reading So You Wanna Be a Rock Star at your drums or holding your guitar?  How about a picture of you reading Rachael Ray 365: No Repeats while wearing an apron and chef's hat and working in the kitchen?  See Mrs. McCutcheon for more information.
